Except if your making one for a software company, then I would advise you to at least check out the latest trends. Whether swooshes, glows or bevels come and go. A well-designed logo should be timeless and this can be achieved by checking the latest design tricks and gimmicks. As a software company, you don’t want to have a designer use a style that isn’t in the same style as your vision for your company.
